A fine copy of this fun paperback, printed by Roy Lewis at his Surrey private press.

Lovely limited edition copy of a relatively unknown poem by the Dane better known for his fairy tales (though he did produce 750 poems in his lifetime. In this 1830 work, he offers a science-fiction vision centered on the upcoming reappearance in 1835 of Halley's Comet. The poem also served as the basis for a later story of his of the same name that remains relatively unknown to English-speaking readers. This edition, translated & with a Foreword by Anne Born, is a Limited Edition from the Keepsake Press & the Quarto Press (from Surrey & Middlesex, England, respectively), one of only 200 copies printed, from 1982. With navy blue wrappers beating a black design & lettering to front cover, stapled binding, French flaps, unpaginated, Frontispiece sketch of the author in sepia tones. Condition is VG: interior is virtually flawless, while the exterior shows a tad of rubbing to extremities & 2 short, unclosed tears to bottom edge of front cover. Back cover shows slight bending/creasing. Else, completely clean & unmarked, staples clean & without rust.
