Scientific researchers from the University of Manchester have discovered the fossil of a springtail whic…h is estimated to be 16 million years old. The springtail which was inside an amber, reveals many facts about the nature of springtails. Researchers have made use of CT scan for analysing and scrutinizing the features of the creature. As a result, they have found that the springtail was hitchhiking on the wings of an adult mayfly. Immediately, the scientists captured this particular information then mentioned that such activity is unique since tiny springtails are known to use mayflies only for transportation. Precisely, the CT scan have demonstrated that the small springtail was sitting at the base of one of the mayfly s wings. In addition to this, the 16-million-year-old creatures seemed to have secured itself to the mayfly via its prehensile antennae. Ahead of all, springtails are 1-2 mm long and can be seen around the world in wide numbers. Englisch.
