From the cover: Steve Hogarth was born in Kendal, Cumbria, on 14 May 1959, at Helme Chase convent and maternity hospital, the son of a marine engineer and a short-hand typist. While still very young his family moved to Doncaster, Yorkshire, where he grew up. He never had formal music tuition but was fascinated by the songs on the radio.
