Entwicklung programmgesteuerter Rechenanlagen vom mechanischen Schaltglied über Relais, Röhre, zum Transistor fasst die vier technologischen Epochen zusammen, die Konrad Zuse maßgeblich geprägt hat:Das mechanische Schaltglied (Ab 1936): Entwicklung der Z1 im Wohnzimmer seiner Eltern. Sie war der weltweit erste mechanische Rechner, der bereits das Binärsystem und die Fließkommaarithmetik nutzte.Das Relais (1941): Bau der Z3, dem ersten voll funktionsfähigen, programmgesteuerten Digitalrechner der Welt. Seine Nachfolgemaschine, die Z4, wurde später an der ETH Zürich als erster kommerziell gehandelter Computer eingesetzt.Die Elektronenröhre (1957): Markteinführung der Z22.
