Hardcover. Condition: Good. (1915), 240pp, 16 illustrations, of 17 called for. Another version, published the same year by Wells & Co. in Portland, Oregon is said to be the first printing. Light speckling to covers, contents generally foxed as is common with this edition, pencil notations in margin on several pages, front inner hinge neatly reinforced, else G+. The author says he was born in Cape Vincent, New York in 1849 and ran away at age 14. He had many interesting adventures in the west, claiming to have known Calamity Jane and to have been present when Wild Bill Hickok was killed. Howes 27. Six Guns 2466. Adams finds many discrepancies, but who can say whether the author was lying or just forgetful.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 2nd Edition. 8vo; 242 pages, leaf at end advertising Hoyle's Standard Games. Light brown cloth lettered on spine and front cover in black. A very nice copy of a rather fragile production, text evenly some browned (poor paper). Second edition after a privately printed edition published in Portland, Oregon. Illustrated with 17 plates: portrait frontispiece, lots of the author's sketches, plates of gun fighters, Calamity Jane, a hanging, the death of Wild Bill. A wonderful mix of truth and imaginative fiction (aka errors). References: Six Guns, 2466; Burrs Under the Saddle, numerous mentions; Howes, Y27; Eberstadt, 105-319; Graff, 4789. Rip-roaring big fun.
