Hard Cover in Dust Jacket. Blamire Young (illustrator). Large format, 7 3/4" x 10 ¼ ", bound in patterned paper over boards with cloth backstrip stamped with gilt lettering, top edge gilt. Dust jacket has a 1 to 2 inch closed tear to the top of the front cover, otherwise in good condition. This is a limited edition of 750 copies of which 700 were for sale. Colour frontispiece (tissue protected) with the words He plunged straight towards the star into the waters of the lagoon . 11 further illustrations in vivid and deep colours by Blamire Young. All 11 illustrations by Young and captioned tissue guards are present. 92 pages. Francis John Clarence Westenra Plantagenet Hastings, 16th Earl of Huntingdon (30 January 1901 24 August 1990), styled Viscount Hastings until 1939, was a British artist, academic and later a Labour parliamentarian. Provenance: inscription to BarBara from Mummy and Dayy to the front. Pagination: [xviii], 92pp. Approximately 10 ¼ inches tall (26cm). Condition Report Externally Spine good condition gilt titles. Joints good condition sound. Corners good condition slightly bumped. Boards good condition patterned boards to a quarter cloth spine, covered by original Dust Jacket with coloured illustrations to the front board. Page edges good condition top edge gilt and slightly darkened, front and bottom edges untrimmed. Dust Jacket good condition marginal closed tears to the edges, the longest being a 1 inch closed tear to the top front cover, colour plate to the front board with black titles. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition sound. Paste downs good condition tanned with some foxing. End papers good condition tanned with some foxing.
