Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition, Limited Edition. The Ukiyoye Primitives Yone Noguchi Tokyo: Privately Published, 1933 Limited numbered edition; this copy No. 325 of 1,000 copies Signed by Yone Noguchi Handsome limited edition study of early Japanese ukiyo-e prints, covering the formative period approximately 1650-1765 and artists including Moronobu, the Kiyonobu school, Masanobu, Toyonobu, and others. The volume was privately published in Tokyo in 1933 and is illustrated with a color woodblock frontispiece and 93 plates, including eight in color. The book comprises xiii, 122 pages plus 93 leaves of plates. This is copy No. 325 of 1,000 numbered copies, signed by Yone Noguchi. Housed in its original slipcase. The book retains its string binding, all plates, protective tissue guards, and vibrant frontispiece. A substantial early English-language reference on the "primitive" or early masters of ukiyo-e, presented in a format especially appealing to collectors of Japanese art books, woodblock-print scholarship, and limited editions. Condition Book: Very Good+. String binding is excellent and secure. All plates are present, including the color frontispiece and the protective tissue guards. Plates are vibrant, clean, and unmarked. The folding or double-page material at the front is present. The corresponding double-page spread at the end is also present, with one crease. Natural fiber paper shows age-toning and occasional light foxing (visible in photos). Otherwise an unusually clean, well-preserved interior. Slipcase: Good. Structurally sound and complete. One cover crease is beginning to fail/separate, though it is still firmly attached. Spine title lettering is faded. A prior pencil price appears on the inner board. Slipcase shows age and handling wear but remains serviceable and protective. Please examine photographs carefully for the limitation/signature page, string binding, frontispiece, plate condition, tissue guards, end-spread crease, and the exact condition of the slipcase.
