Nel 1928, trasfe…ritosi a Parigi, si inserì come poeta nell'ambiente artistico di Montparnasse, scrisse per riviste d'arte e organizzò diverse mostre. Trasferitosi a Ginevra nel 1939, partecipò a trasmissioni radiofoniche, scrisse per diversi giornali e lavorò presso l'ufficio svizzero del turismo. Nel 1949 fondò, assieme a Pierre Cailler, la Gilda internazionale dell'incisione mentre nel 1955 creò L'OEuvre gravée, due iniziative editoriali che contribuirono al rinnovamento dell'arte della stampa e diedero notorietà ad alcuni dei maggiori artisti del XX sec. (Appel, Arp, Braque, Campigli, Corneille, Crippa, Marino Marini, Serge Poliakoff, Zoran Music, Alfred Manessier, Hans Erni, Severini. e tanti altri). Tornato a Locarno nel 1949, Jacometti collaborò con Virgilio Gilardoni e lasciò alla città quasi tutte le sue edizioni assieme a centinaia di incisioni originali, conservate presso la Pinacoteca comunale Casa Rusca. Nel 1953 ricevette il gran premio della critica alla Biennale di Venezia per il suo contributo alla storia dell'arte. Pour beaucoup ce livre sera la révélation la quête de beauté qui a accompagné l'immense effort de développement économique du Valais. Ces artistes, hommes et femmes, Valaisans de naissance ou d'adoption, ont contribué à insuffler une âme à un pays tellement occupé au tangible et au concret qu'il en oublie parfois de rêver. Heureusement, il y a des Poètes qui passent au milieu de nous et qui, par la plume, le pinceau, l'appareil de photo, le ciseau . nous rappellent à des réalités plus subtiles et plus saisissantes, plus fragiles mais moins périssables. Ce livre veut leur rendre hommage.
