Couverture souple. Condition: Neuf. 30 drawings with a transcription and translation of the captions. It is said that there are many types of artists : those who invent codes and those who use them, those who blow air and those who create, those who persist and those who leave their signature, those who succeed and those who hang around, those who arrive early or late Michel Würthle is one of those types. Having arrived at mid life, he defends himself quite well, using drawing as a necessary sublimation of pain and solitude , an elegant escape at the risk of sexual frustration. This prudish fable on the retreat of wisdom is full of his characteristic irony and black humor. Würtle might be seen as a gang artist, one who rallied around Martin Kippenberger, or more precisely around the Berlin section of this dangerous group. In fact he comes in the wake of a whole band of crually compassionate deficators of modern art : Max Beckmann, Otto Dix, Georg Grosz who inspired Würthle to take up the scapel.…

Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. 1st Edition. Albrecht Fuchs: MK 95: Martin Kippenberger 1995 Portraits. Snoek Verlag, Cologne Germany 2008 hardcover First Edition ISBN 9783936859751 Green cloth with silver titles. AS NEW, SIGNED on the colophon page by the photographer. Dust jacket protected in archival mylar. Text by Michel Wurthle. From the publisher: "In 1995 Albrecht Fuchs began an intensive collaboration with Martin Kippenberger (1953-1997). Fuchs photographed the artist both in Cologne and the Black Forest and accompanied him to Dawson City. The result was an extensive, impressive photographic documentation about the artist and his second Metro-Net project. Not least because of this, Martin Kippenberger is considered to be one of the most important innovators in modern art during the final two decades of the twentieth century. His radically postmodern approach has provided a substantial contribution to new stylistic diversity." About Fuch's photographs, the publisher says "His methodology of respectful distance and loving empathy engenders a strange tension in his photographs, despite the quietude and equilibrium of the compositions. Naturally, the people portrayed in the meticulously constructed images, both in terms of the use of light and color composition, stare at one with open and serious demeanor. They would like to appear sympathetic and are a little lost in reverie as a result. And yet upon closer inspection one feels there is a sense of authenticity in the moment here, which one would normally be denied.". Signed by Author(s). …

Condition: Gut. 99 Seiten; Illustrationen; 24 cm; kart. Sehr gutes Exemplar. - Deutsch; franz.; engl. --- This catalogue was published on occasion of the exhibition of the drawings of Michel Würthle at the Musee d'art moderne et contemporain (Mamco) in Geneva, the Gallery Bleich-Rossi in Graz and the Gallery Unlimited in Athen. . // (Verlagstext) ISBN 2940159025 Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 550.…
