Jacket lightly soiled and rubbed with a vertical line of moderate rubbing across front and especially the rear panel. Jacket spine a bit faded and darkened with spots of staining. Half inch arc of tear to head of front jacket panel with short tears t…o head of spine and tiny chips to both head and foot. Edge wear with a chip to foot of rear panel. Couple spots of soil to front board. Bookplate to front paste-down, toning around edges of front free end-paper. This toning extends to half-title and faintly to title-page. LA Times review of the book pasted to rear free end-paper with an October 8, 1956 Time magazine review laid in. Both reviews produced offset to rear paste-down and to the rear jacket flap. Binding firm, unmarked copy. Johnston A18.I.a with "Format A" binding.
