Very clean black cloth boards in Good Plus to near VG condition, with bright silver lettering and an illustration of a silver 'fingerprint' on the spine - one small nick' to the cloth at the bottom of the spine, not too noticable. The dust…jacket is not price-clipped and has had some wear (chipping/possible loss? ) to each corner and head/tail of the spine, where a former owner has 'repaired' these areas with some brown tape which overlaps a little on to the outside of the d/j, then coloured it in appropriately - not exactly the most delicate of repairs, but it has preserved it. The dustjacket is now in a new, protective, clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks pretty good. (Jacket Design by Derek Williams). The dustjacket is not price-clipped. The page edges have some (foxing) light brown spotting to them and there are also a few very light yellowy-brown spots on the plain endpapers, and first few and last few pages, but the pages are otherwise unmarked. (4) + 186 pp. No Inscriptions or other marks. Originally published in the US by Viking in 1960. Charles Williams is regarded by some critics as one of the finest suspense novelists of the 1950s and 1960s.
