William Leo-Wolf, a German physician who immigrated to the United States, wrote this critique of the "mysteries" of homeopathic medicine (whose practitioners believe disease could be cured by a substance that produces the disease's symptoms in healthy people). The au…thor explains the iconography of the woodcut vignette on the title page, showing snakes, bats, a bearded philosopher, lightning, and a scroll with Hahnemann's name. A good to very good copy, partially lightly foxed, and partially unopened. Bound in plain boards backed in textured cloth with partial paper label. Superficial wear to hinges and extremities; soil to boards.
