    Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. One sheet Quarto (11" x 8 1/2") hand written letter inscribed on both sides, dated march 4, 1911, discussing a series of problems he had included for publication and to disregard pervious problems since they may have published. William Rudloph learned chess at fifteen while attending high school. He later played on the New York University chess team and achieved his first success as a problemist by winning first prize in the Brooklyn Eagle's solving contest, two move section, of 1906. He also tied for first prize in the Eagle's fifth solving tourney for the Alain C White medal, but was dripped to third by Barry's "tie breakers" He went on to be published in solving tournaments in the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Item, as well as Chess Amateur and went on to have over 200 published which appeared in columns of Canada, England, France, Sweden, Germany, Austria, South Africa and Sweden. He was civil engineer by trade and worked on the Fourth Avenue Subway construction in Brooklyn, where he represented the Public Service Commission.
