He begins by informing Baron that four numbers of 'The Lark' have already been published. 'Messrs Hart & Co 22 Paternoster Row are the London Publishers No 5 for December is now at Press with Christmas supplement - 16 pages size of Punch - with eg Poems by Tennyson - Lord Lytton - Sir Theodore Martin - Sir Samuel Ferguson - Austin Dobson - G R Sims - Mrs Craik & other fine living English Poets - such a pennyworth for eminent contributors & quality of Contents as has never been issued before'. He proceeds to list seven individuals, including 'Mr Gladstone', who will contribute to the sixth issue. He continues: 'I defer for the present the consideration of original contributors having had the gems of 60 living poets placed at my disposal - Make it known in Blackburn - & buy a copy at each of the Newsvendors you know If they once get it they will keep it.' He ends by describing the magazine as 'a powerful influence set in action to refine & delight the People'.
