Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the changes produced in the spark spectrum by varying some of the quantities connected with the spark or its circuit. Previously, these studies were often completed in isolation, leading to a range of conflicting conclusions. The author aimed to remedy this by studying the effects of each variable separately, and by varying these quantities through wide ranges. This work expanded on recent investigations using spectroscopic apparatus of great dispersive power and illustrated the intricate relationship between the separate effects of these quantities on the character of the spectrum. Ultimately, the appearance of the metallic spectrum depends solely on the amount, density, pressure, nature, and temperature of the metallic vapor in the spark. The study demonstrated that the energy developed in the spark is the most significant factor in determining the nature of the spectrum, and thus the conditions of the metallic vapor. As such, the work provided a holistic understanding of the spark spectrum and the factors affecting it. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
