Hardcover. Condition: VG-. 1st English. xi+327+4 (bound in 11.5 x 19 cms. Swedenborg list)+4 (Swedenborg list, apparently no overlap with preceding and inc. French, Welch (sic) and Latin editions plus 'Dr Tafel's Editions' ), both lists by Newbery. Internally clean, tight & unmarked, prev.owner's small gilt label top front pastedown, top textblock edge remains a little dusty despite cleaning. Blind-stamped blacck cloth covers clean bar a small orange paint fleck lower front which resists removal (see image), remarkably unworn, hard to know whether it is all slightly faded or not, blind-stamped borders and decorative central panel. Scarce in such good condition. Basically a survey of physiological knowledge of male and female 'generative organs' with relatively little explicit expoitation of author's mystical doctrines, although hints of this in functional accounts of how physiology operates.

"On the Divine Love." is reprinted from Swedenborg's muli-volume "Apocalypse Explained". Of "A Hieroglyphic Key." the translator writes: "it belongs to the same period of Swedenborg's life with 'the Economy of the Animal Kingdom', 'Animal Kigdom', and 'Worship and Love of God' and [it] was written with the view of [.] embracing the circle of the higher sciences, as the pathway whereby the human mind may approach to a knowledge of the soul.".

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Hardcovers. 2 volumes bound in green embossed boards with gilt lettering. Part I 1843, Vol. II 1844. The boards are worn with some water marks and staining to both volumes Corners are bumped and the spine ends are compressed with slight nicks. Part I has a small spilt to the rear spine edge and is more faded overall than Vol. II. Internally there is a previous owner's signature penned on the pastedown of part I and some water marks to the rear pastedowns and REPs of both volumes. The text remains bright and clear in both. DP.
