Fred Whymper was an explorer and artist. Illustrations throughout including a stunning full-page frontispiece. Clean and strong green cloth-bound boards and spine with colour illustrative detailing. Some rubbing and bumping. Slight cracking to internal front and back covers. Octavo bound with clean and bright pages with light foxing on opening page. Good Condition. 13cm x 18.5cm x 4cm. pp. 468.

First edition hard back binding in publisher's original illustrated teal cloth covers, title and author lettering to the spine and to the front cover. 8vo. 7½'' x 5¼''. Contains tissue-guarded frontispiece, (xii), 468pp + 8pp publisher's catalogue with 41 monochrome illustrations throughout. Lacking the half-title, corners and spine ends rubbed and bumped, foxing to the tissue guard. SIGNED by the author to the front free end paper 'Follett Papsmoresy?
