    Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Folded for mailing. Left edge of earlier letter has some slight wear, apparently separated from another leaf. ; Two handwritten letters signed E. P. Whipple, one page each, approx. 7 1/2" wide by 9 1/2". Written heading Boston, dated Nov 15 & Dec 22, 1855. To an unidentified recipient making arrangements to present a lecture: "I have recd from Mr. S. H. Dale, of Bangor, a letter, in which he states that you have desired him to engage me to lecture at Waterville on Friday, Dec. 28 . ". In the second letter: ". You can choose from three subjects - 'Joan of Arc', 'Martin Luther', and 'Cheerfulness'. At Bangor I am paid $50. If this is too high for you, please fix the price to suit your convenience.".
