This is the "Special De Luxe Independence Edition of the Centenary Issue of the Writings of Thomas Paine", signed by the editor, Daniel Edwin Wheeler, on the Limitation Page. Publisher's full grey silk with… parchment labels on spines, top edges gilt, fore-edges deckle. Each volume contains a color frontispiece, in the first volume it is a colour portrait which is tipped-in, with gilt decoration; title-pages in red and black. Illustrated with between four and five B&W plates in each volume, each with a descriptive tissue-guard. The red lettering on the parchment labels is faded (as usual) and the labels are soiled, else as new; unmarked, unread, tight, square, and clean. A large, heavy set - additional shipping charges may apply, particularly for expedited or international shipment. FINE. Color and B&W illustrations. Small 4to 9" - 11" tall.
