Both front and back wraps are detached and edgeworn, chipping affecting border of title panel; spine abraded with remnants of spine titling; textblock edgeworn with small bump… at the tail. A former owner has underlined a few lines in pencil with learned marginal comments in English; would respond to recasing, with major portions of wraps to be laid down. Title page bears the full signature of Berkeley philosopher Richard Boyle O'Reilly Hocking across bottom of page datelined Gottingen 1934; marginal holograph resembles Hocking's signature.
