Dust jacket rubbed with some stains and soiling; 1.75cm deep chip at spine head and rear flap's adjacent corner; 8.5cm tear descending from head of front flap fold; other shorter tears and small chips at edges; front flap retains publisher's printed price at top right; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Pale green cloth with color fading; spine ends bumped; black lettering to spine and front board. Minor stain to text block's fore-edge. Slight toning to endpapers; ink margin mark on page 352 but no other such marks discovered upon a cursory perusal; pages 73-76 creased at their bottom fore-edge corners; some other leaves lightly bumped/curled at their bottom corners too. Binding is firm. This fifth printing was not issued with a foldout state road map in a rear pocket but instead has "Map of Mississippi in Nine Sections" divided among unpaged nine leaf section near rear. "Key to Mississippi Tours" b/w map duplicated on both front and rear endpapers; fourteen other maps amongst text including tour maps for the towns of Columbus, Holly Springs, Natchez, and Vicksburg. Sponsored by the Mississippi Agricultural and Industrial Board (earlier printings were sponsored by the Mississippi Advertising Commission). Foreword by WPA Administrator Harry L. Hopkins. Preface by State Director Eri Douglas and State Editor Gene Holcomb. B/w photographs throughout with images by Willa Johnston, Gene Holcomb, O.N. Pruitt, Earl M. Norman, and W.
