Wrappers. Condition: Acceptable. Experimenter Publishing Co., New York, Published March 1927. Wraps (pulp magazine), pp. 1081-1182; 29 cm; illustrated with black-and-white interior illustrations. Amazing Stories, Volume 1, Number 12. Edited by Hugo Gernsback. In acceptable / reading-copy condition. Original printed front and bac…k wrappers (Frank R. Paul cover art) are missing. A previous owner has supplied a plain peach paper wrapper hand-lettered in blue pencil "Amazing / March 1927" with "10c" stamped in the upper right corner (used-bookstore marking); the narrow spine strip of the original printed cover showing "Amazing Stories / Scientifiction / 1927" has been preserved and glued along the spine edge of the improvised wrapper. The improvised wrapper was glued directly to page 1081; when the glue shifted, it lifted a section of the advertisement text on that page, leaving a visibly stripped/blotted area in the left column. Page 1081 remains fully legible otherwise. Pages are heavily tanned and brittle with light chipping and edge tears, but all are present and attached; text is unmarked. A reading copy only. Contents include: Idle Thoughts of a Busy Editor by Hugo Gernsback; The Green Splotches by T.S. Stribling; Under the Knife by H.G. Wells; The Hammering Man by Edwin Balmer and William B. MacHarg; Advanced Chemistry by Jack G. Huekels; The People of the Pit by A. Merritt; The Land That Time Forgot (serial Part II of 3) by Edgar Rice Burroughs; Discussions.
