First edition, limited to 300 copies printed by the Ward Ritchie Press. Illustrations by Barse Miller. Publication #40. Faint offsetting from the illustrations, else fine in cream boards with decorations on front and back covers; double-page spreads adorning the half-title, title page, rear fly leaves and both sets of endpapers, and head-pieces for each of the ballads. Anthology of California-inspired poems gathered into three groups: Spain and Mexico, Days of the 'Forty-nine, and San Francisco. Poets include Ambrose Bierce, Bret Harte, Gelett Burgess, Bayard Taylor and Joaquin Miller. A very attractive little volume.
