Outside pictorial covers are nice with only some minor soiling to the back cover and minor wear to the outside corners. No Dust Jacket, but one did not come with the Pictorial Cover. The only copyright showing in the book is 1942, but I would guess this book was printed in the 1960's. 279 pages.

Quoting from the flap of the dust jacket: This is the story mostly of hunting, because hunting for food is the Eskimo life, but it is also a story of a warm and human family and their neighbors, young and old and how they live way up on the northern shores of Greenland. I am pleased to offer: Etuk, the Eskimo Hunter, by Mariam MacMillan with illustrations by Kurt Weise. The author was the wife of then Commander Donald B. MacMillan who would become one of our most effective Arctic explorers. She accompanied him on some of his expeditions and derived the information that went into this book and others she wrote. This small hard cover book (5 ¾ x 8 ¼ inches, 177 pages) was published by Dodd, Mead & Company of New York, dated 1950. I believe it is a First Edition. There is a section of drawings of Eskimo implements as a supplement just before page 50 of the book which were done by her husband. The book is bound in sky blue cloth with a darker blue and silver gilt title panel on the spine and is protected by a striking pictorial dust jacket. The book is very well illustrated with drawings by Kurt Wiese, pen & ink drawings occurring one every few pages. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket shows a good deal of edge wear including some small chips and tears and some light soiling. The hard covers show some darkening along the top edge and an abrasion at the base of the front cover which has also affected the dust jacket in the same spot. Conditions inside are much better. The book is unmarked and the pages are bright and clean throughout. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
