"This 6.25 x 9.375 inch, 394 page hardcover book with dust wrapper is the 1934 edition as originally published by Bobbs-Merrill Company as is stated on the title page but this copy may be the first printing by A.L. Burt as a Blue Ribbon Books, as shown on th…e inside flap of the dust wrapper. The spine shows "Bert" at the foot. The book itself is in at least very good condition with only a touch of wear at the bottom two corners. The blue cloth over boards with red lettering on front panel and spine shows little time or handling wear, although the spine does show some curious discoloration to the blue cloth. The interior text is in fine condition with no markings or damage to note and with just a touch of age-toning to the paper. The binding is tight and square, and all in all the book itself is in very nice condition. The dust wrapper is complete but does show considerable wear at the folds, and two pieces of the wrapper missing at the spine crown and front top fold. The wrapper is in very nice condition with the scarce image of Custer leading his cavalry force forward with their ghost-like images hovering in the cloud-sky above. This treatment for Custer by Van der Water was acclaimed in its day but further historic research has reshaped the Custer story in recent years and somewhat leaves this treatment behind. 394 pages.".
