Vol.4 has author as 'Dr Harrison' but this was a misattribution. t.p.+xvi+352, t.p.+(1)+356, t.p.+(1)+282, (1,contents)+half-title +t.p.+364; 'Samuel Warren' in early, erasable, pencil top first t.p., early oval German bookseller's stamp bottom verso same, quite innocuous, v.faint trace of erased penciled number centre 1st free endpaper, otherwise a remarkably clean and tight set with no browning and good end-gutters; clean brown marbled boards with only a few spots of surface rubbing which almost disappear into the marbled pattern, corners v.sl.rubbed. Blue sp.labels of marbled board covers with orig. 'Harrison' corrected in ink and vol.numbers also added in ink. Actually a fictional work of what amounts to a series of short stories supposedly detailing sensational cases in the 'physician's ' career.

The inscription is on the half-title leaf of Warren's anonymous 'A Letter to the Queen on a Late Court Martial' (1850). In fair condition on aged paper, with traces of previous mount adhering to the reverse. It reads: 'Rev. Dr. Warren | With his Son's love. | Samuel Warren. | 12th. Jany 1850.'.
