On front end paper it is written that this book was obtained from D.H. & Mrs. Lee, and pasted in is a colored Bible inscription in Bengali, a verse from Hebrews that is signed on the back by Mr. Lee. The "disaster" was a landslide in 1899 that took the lives of the Lee children.

The book is written by the mother, Mrs. D.H. Lee, who recounts the event and its effect on their lives. They continued the mission field and established an orphanage as a memorial to their deceased offspring. Wear to the covers and inner hinge cracks with one signature loose Red cloth with black title to front cover & spine.
