Leather. Condition: Fair. None (illustrator). A very scarce two volume chronicle of Scottish history, from ancient times to the fifteenth century. In the original Latin.Combining the 'Scotichronicon' of John of Fordun with extensive supplements and continuations by Walter Bower. It covers the legendary origins of Scotland, the early history of the Picts, the arrival of the Scots from Ireland, and the reigns of various Scottish kings. Fordun's work is considered one of the most important historical sources for early Scottish history, although its accuracy has been questioned by modern historians.Walter Bower later expanded and updated the 'Scotichronicon', continuing the narrative until the reign of King James I.ESTC Citation No. T96013Providing an impressive amount of information on early Scottish history.
