Joints - very good condition - gently rubbed. Corners - very good condition - gently bumped and worn. Boards - very good condition - coarse grained morocco and cloth covered boards, minor marks and wear. Page edges - good condition - top edge darkened gilt, others tanned, ding to the top edge of Vol II. Binding - good condition. See above and photos. Internally Hinges - good condition - sound, some straining to the gutter of Vol I at the title. Paste downs - good condition - marbled with bookplate. End papers - good condition - marbled, subsequently tanned and foxed. Title - good condition - tanned with foxing from the portraits.
