First Edition. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. no date (early 19th century, prob 1820s), 212pp, frontispiece portrait of author (Walcot, 1738-1819, wrote humorous and satirical verse in the classical style under the pseudonym Peter Pindar), in Howard's Beauties of Literature seri…es, with paper-covered boards, chipped at spine, outer hinges cracked, corners worn, text block clean apart from foxing to title page. The selections include The Lousiad, 'An Heroi-Comic Poem' inspired by an incident when His Majesty discovered, as he sat at table, a louse upon his plate. In the subsequent contretemps, the cooks, scullions etc. had to be shaved, and the unfortunate louse was condemned to die.
