The sole edition of Pastor of the first Church in Danvers Benjamin Wadsworth's (1750-1826) sermon preached at the annual meeting of the Bible Society of Salem and Vicinity, to which is appended the fourth report of the trustees of the society. The Society was established in 1810 with the remit of soliciting financial aid for the purchase and distribution of Bibles. A subsidiary of the Massachusetts Bible Society (itself an auxiliary of the American Bible Society), the Salem chapter was officially incorporated in February 1811 and remained operational until voluntarily disbanded in 1867.
