Nach 1945 kam er zur neugegründeten "Süddeutsche(n) Zeitung", für die er zuerst als Sonderberichterstatter von den Nürnberger Prozessen berichtete. Zusammen Dolf Sternberger und Gerhard Storz veröffentlichte er auch Beiträge in der Kolumne "Aus dem Wörterbuch des Unmenschen" über die NS-Sprache in der Zeitschrift "Die Wandlung". Er war ein Jugendfreund von Klaus und Erika Mann und ist der Vater des Journalisten Martin E. Süskind und des Autors Patrick Süskind. Sprache: de.
