Others loosening. Marbled endpapers, edges. Bookplate of Alexander Boyle on front pastedown of each. Pages heavily tanned and thumbed at the edges. Heavy foxing throughout. Hinges cracked, with a loose binding. Notable inkstain to margin of vol I p344. Liquid stain to margin of 2 pages in vol II, not affecting text. Boards heavily rub worn with heavy shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners bumped and heavily peeled; spine ends crushed, with some splits and chips. Limp boards, with some joints completely cracked. Rear board of vol 3 detached, and others loosening. Spines intensely mottled and stained. Lettering to spine and boards is faded and chipped. Noticeable surface tears and cracking to leather. Slipcase is scuffed in places with minor shelf wear to edges and corners. Scratch to case spine.
