Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. First printing in this format. Large paper edition, one of 500 copies printed on 29th November 1862. Title page and prelims foxed. Contemporary inscription on prelim with chocolate brown endpapers. Original green cloth with Golden Treasury series medallion stamped in gilt on front board. Minor splits to head and base of hinge of spine, otherwise a very nice copy.

Cloth Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Third Edition. 'Golden Treasury Series'. Green cloth boards with gilt ruled frame and embossed gilt design to front and gilt titling to spine. Pp xxiii, 388 + 2 pages ads; tissue-guarded title page with vignettes. A square, tight, clean copy with just a little spine bump. Contents bright and clean with no marks etc; faint foxing to endpapers; 19th century previous owner label to inside front boards in old English script: [H. E. Hudson - Ch. Ch. Half dark brown leather over tan linen boards, spine in six compartments separated by raised bands, gilt lettering in one compartment, a.e.g., marbled endpapers. . Spine and fore-edges are lightly rubbed, former owner's blind stamp and handwritten name, date and town on fep, else pristine, unmarked, unread, tight, square and clean. VERY GOOD+. . Reprint. Engraving on title-page, title-page printed in red and black Title-page cut a little close with text just shaved at foot, a little damage to sides and spine slightly darkened, a little foxing to end-papers, otherwise a very nice copy; book-label comprising two intertwined letter "S" surmounted by a coronet Full blue morocco, upper cover gilt sun-like ornament enclosing a coronet and initials "M.S", spine with raised bands and lettered and dated in gilt, turn-ins with gilt fillets and a roll of palmettes, by Worsfold.
