When one starts diving into Parish Records and into the many printed or manuscript works and documents from which it is possible to gather facts concerning the parish, it at once becomes obvious that it would be foolish to attempt to set down these facts without con-necting them, on occasion, to what, at that time, was happening in the country as a whole. Epidemics, such as the Black Death and the Plague, Crusades and Wars, changes in the form of religion, the levying of taxes, the evolution of government as we know it to-day. all had a direct effect on what was happening in the parish. Unless one has history at one's finger-tips, a date or the mention of a certain century, is lik.
