Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Roadtrip Through My Mind is a poetic journey through my mind. A small picture of my mind-life as it reflects my poetic likes and dislikes. I think people of different ages would enjoy reading this book of poems. In places the scheme and sequence of this book may seem choppy. That's done to reflect the choppiness of everyday thought. My favorite poem in this book would be "We Are Characters". Characters is a metaphor for the thoughts that a poet may think up. Also I feel in life that we are all characters. The poet does a job that not everyone has the patience to do. The skydiver experiences a reality separate from the more conservative sides of society. A lot of my writing influences come from the Beat Generation. Some of my favorite writers are Jack Kerouac, William S. Burroughs and Gregory Corso. I also like the style of T.S. Eliot's writings. I don't feel that poetry has to always be a restrained form. Some of the poetry in this book will be fold-ins. In that way this book can be an ode to different styles that I like. I think that aleatory in writing should be practiced more heavily. In ways I look at writing as painting. With fold-ins the writing becomes a small collage of words. Theres also new phrases and meanings that come out of the writing when different topics are mix-matched and blended. In more avant-garde writing there's a lot of artfulness that gets overlooked. Art imitates life and life doesn't always make complete and perfect sense. Therefore poetry shouldn't always be expected to make perfect sense. This item is printed on demand.
