Springfield, Illinois, Charles C. Thomas Publ., 1975, 8°, IVX, 161 pp., zahlr. Abbildungen, orig. Leinenband mit Schutzumschlag. First Edition! "This symposium on the treatment of chronic intractable pain was conceived by Dr. Walter Whisler. I have been privileged to participate in the planning, organization and execution of the… symposium and now the editing of the presentations for publication. The program was planned to emphasize therapy and contained a minimal amount of basic anatomical and physiological principles of pain perception and transmission. Time was provided for discussion and questions by the audience and the moderator. Dr. Oscar Sugar, the moderator, made sure that spirited and critical discussion did occur. Unfortunately, it has not been possible to publish these discussions in this volume. This symposium was sponsored by the Department of Neurological Surgery, Rush Medical College, Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center, February 23-24, 1973, Chicago, Illinois. The reader will find here the current practices of a group of competent neurosurgeons and allied specialists in treating intractable pain. Some editing of the manuscripts submitted has seemed necessary in the interest of conciseness and avoidance of repetition. We have attempted to preserve the originality and flavor of each presentation. Any errors are to be charged to the senior editor." Preface, Harold C. Voris.
