Claude Verdan (1909-2006) Swiss surgeon, "studied medicine in Lausanne and received his doctorate in 1935. He completed surgical training in Zurich and in Pierre Decker's department…at the Cantonal Hospital in Vaud. In 1946 he founded the Clinic for Hand Surgery La Longeraie in Lausanne, which became known worldwide and from 1961 to 1980 he was Head of the Surgical Polyclinic of the University of Lausanne. After his retirement in 1981, Verdan founded a museum about the hand in Lausanne. It is managed by the Claude Verdan Foundation. Verdan made significant medical contributions to hand surgery, wrote over 350 publications, mainly on accident medicine and hand surgery, was a member of numerous international surgical societies and received countless honors for his achievements". wiki.
