The mustard boards have the title in gilt and the authors name in purple with stamped engraved pictures of people and other designs, the spine has the title in gilt and some stamped engraving also. The corners are lightly bumped and there is some shelf wear to the top and bottom of the spine, t…he cover has some marks front and back with some soiling as does the top, fore, and bottom edges. The end papers are in a chocolate color with a child's name in pencil in front and some sums that have been done in pencil in the back. The interior is a little age yellowed, but seems to be clean; the frontispiece is a black and white drawing of children and some adults with the tissue still intact.
