In die omstandigheden krijgen gedachten en inzichten van grote filosofen een betekenis die hem als wetenschapper waren ontgaan. De filosofische reflecties van Kant tot en met Lyotard bieden een levensreddende 'cognitieve therapie': een manier van denken en begrijpen waardoor je kunt overleven in een ineenstortende wereld.
