Translated from the original Danish by Valdemar Paulsen. Origin…ally published in this Windermere format by Rand McNally in 1916, this is the 1932 edition. Hardcover book in 286 pages with decorative endpapers has matte black cloth-covered boards with a lovely front color pastedown, which is virtually flawless! Overall condition is VG+: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, hinges sturdy, all pages secure, all plates present, with some showing a hint of tanning/a random foxed spot to a few margins, but completely unmarked save for old gift inscription dated 1935 to half-title page. All corners & head of spine are bumped & rubbed, with some loss. No DJ. (Note: we are also offering the Blue variant of this title, in slightly less nice condition, but with 9 plates instead of 7; please see our listing $ 024313). Transl…ated from the original Danish by Valdemar Paulsen. The first publication in this format by Rand McNally from 1916 (First, thus), this hardcover octavo in 286 pages has matte blue cloth-covered boards with the front color pastedown edged in gilt, gilt lettering to front & spine. Condition is VG+: very clean, with the occasional spot or smudge, binding strong & straight, text block secure, though the frontispiece & page 31/32 & the plate that follows have become detached; frontispiece also is a bit chipped around the outer edges. Both hinges secure. Pages are creamy white with moderate tanning, heavier to edges; all plates have light edge tannin. Exterior shows mild rubbing to extremities, bumping at all corners & both ends of spine. Frontispiece has a few tiny nicks & scrapes around edges, but the image is lovely! No DJ.
