Andrzej Tadeusz Bonawentura Ko?ciuszkon 1 (né le 4 ou 12 février 1746, mort le 15 octobre 1817) est un officier polonais qui participe à la guerre d'indépendance des États-Unis et organise une insurrection contre la domination russe et prussienne en 1794. Il est aujourd'hui considéré comme un héros national en Pologne, en Biélorussie, en Lituanie et aux États-Unis. Né dans la République des Deux Nations (Biélorussie actuelle) dans une famille de l'aristocratie polonaise, il est diplômé de l'académie militaire de Varsovie en 1766. Il s'installe en France au début du soulèvement de la confédération de Bar pour poursuivre ses études et revient en Pologne en 1774, deux ans après le premier partage. Sans argent ou perspectives d'avenir, il retourne en France, puis se rend aux États-Unis après avoir appris le début de la guerre d'indépendance. Rejoignant l'armée continentale avec le grade de colonel, il participe à la bataille de Saratoga et aide à la construction des défenses du fort de West Point. En reconnaissance de ses services, il est promu brigadier-général par le Congrès continental. Après son retour en Pologne en 1784, Ko?ciuszko tente sans grand succès d'administrer la propriété familiale avant d'entrer dans l'armée de Pologne-Lituanie. Ses succès militaires durant la guerre russo-polonaise de 1792 n'empêchent pas le deuxième partage de la Pologne. Il organise un soulèvement deux ans plus tard. Ko?ciuszko est capturé à la bataille de Maciejowice. Cette défaite entraîne le troisième partage de la Pologne et met fin à son existence en tant qu'État indépendant. Gracié par le tsar Paul Ier de Russie, Ko?ciuszko retourne deux ans aux États-Unis où il retrouve son ami Thomas Jefferson. Puis il s'installe en France. The star-studded ONE TOO MANY aired on May 1, 1985, as the seventh episode o…f the 13th season, close to dead center of the long-running series. This tragic drama includes in-story depictions of the scare-tactic educational films once common in high school sex- and driver-ed classes (after viewing a gruesome close-up of a road accident victim, "Beth" (Winningham) compares and contrasts the previous year's "pictures of people with VD"). Where old-school driver's-ed films merely showed the consequences of reckless driving, ONE TOO MANY adds a layer and shows the consequences of ignoring those films - effectively an afterschool special about the danger of ignoring afterschool specials. Harmon's screenplay also shows insight in its choice of threatened outcomes: the mere thought of dying in a car accident won't scare a teen who plans to live forever. But what if your drunk boyfriend was Val Kilmer, and he had too many beers, and he wouldn't give up his keys without a fight, and you killed your best friend with his car just because your nerves were on edge, and they sent you to jail even though you were Michelle Pfeiffer and you never meant to hurt anybody?
