The plum cloth binding is clean and bright with strong gilt title lettering, and virtually no wear. The binding is solid with no weakness or cracking to the hinges. The contents are clean and tight, with no ownership inscriptions or any other markings. Laid in at page 156/7 is a substantial folded press cutting from the Cape Times of August 11, 1987, pertaining to Krige's death, which has browned the facing pages. The dust jacket is clean, and unclipped, showing only slight wear to the edges and spine ends. It has been neatly and invisibly reinforced from behind and is now protected in a removable mylar cover.
