This is one is one of 47 copies, previously unbound, which were bound and issued in 1977 to mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Usher Gallery. It is not known whether this is one of the 300 originally printed. In a sound and clean red cloth binding, 224 pages, 29 x 38.5 cm, containing 87 illustrations in colour form the author's own water-colour drawings (plate XXXIIA is missing from the 47 copies). A very nice volume, heavy, so extra shipping outside UK.

Normal wear to extremities with NO CHIPPING & NO SPLITTING to boards. Internally VERY CLEAN indeed with NO INSCRIPTIONS. A lovely copy of this SCARCE Reference in original publishers binding. James Usher Ward was a Lincoln Jeweller whose collection formed the basis of the Usher Gallery in Lincoln. There was supplementary volume of further b&w plates but this is not included. The collection included the Mary Queen of Scots Watch by Pierre Duhamel.
