First Edition
First edition. 8vo. 110, (2, ad leaf) pp. Profusely illustrated, nearly every page, with many stereotypical drawings of African-Americans, "a joyous jumble of jokes," verse, skits, anecdotes, dialect tales, etc. Uncle Nic is described on the title page as the author of "Camp Stories" and "Coonahtown Comedy," but we have been unable to locate either as a separate publication. OCLC locates one copy (San Francisco Public). Poor quality paper browned; still a good solid copy of a scarce book of humor. Original color illustrated wrappers (rubbed, some light wear at the extremities). (#6111).
