Softcover. Condition: Sehr gut. 4° (29x21 cm.). Urban Management Programme, Working Paper, N.° 84. 220 p. Softcover. Sprache: Englisch, il. b/n. Very good conditions. Buen estado. Cubiertas: leves roces. Interior: sin marcas y en estupendas condiciones. USADO / GEBRAUCHT / USED. Aconsiderable number of publications related to urban management are generated on a permanent basis in all Latin American and Caribbean countries. However, documents related to the systematisation of experiences, research papers and lectures given during seminars and other events, innovative legal or policy bodies usually circulate within the physical sphere of the local and the time sphere of the short term, in spite of the interest and even the significance they may have for those who, in other areas and in other contexts, are connected to the specific issues addressed in these documents. The Urban Management Programme's Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, within the framework of its Knowledge and Information Strategy, has taken upon itself the task of recovering these cornponents of the "grey literature" and contributing to their dissemination. For this purpose, we are publishing the Series "UMP Working Papers", which include texts generated by UMP, either directly or in association with other agencies and institutions. The series also contain texts from other authors -provided the material is of regional interest- that offer inte-resting contributions to help us understand urban phenomena, and especially that can be converted into useful tools to improve the management of our cities. Urban Agriculture in Cities of the 21st Century UMP-LAC, the Metropolitan District of the Municipality of Quito, the International Research and Development Centre (IDRC), IPES and FAO, organised the International Seminar-Workshop "Urban Agriculture in Cities of the 21st Century" (Quito, Ecuador / 16-21 April 2000). This document contains the seminar presentations. The presentations cover a range of diferent topics: base line studies on the presence and impact of urban agriculture in different cities in the region, municipal programmes and interventions related to urban agriculture development, and lessons lear-ned and relevant proposals related to the formulation of future local integrated policies. Finally the Quito Declaration is annexed. This gave shape to the formation of a thematic City Working Group on Urban Agriculture and Food Security for Latin American and Caribbean Cities.
