Designed and printed by Keith Waldrop, this chapbook contains two prose poems, 'Shop' and 'Posh,' whose anagrammatic play continues throughout: the texts are exactly the same except for strategic words converted into anagr…ams, thus altering the overall meaning: witty and wonderful.

Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition Thus. 8vo. Wrappers. 40pp. A 'small collection of erotic poems first published in "Hambourg" in 1927, under the counter. The poems were reprinted just after the second world war, again under the counter, since when, a combination of snooty critics and cowardly publishers have manag…ed to keep the work very far underground in France and virtually unknown in England and America'. The collection was rescued by Ron Padgett from obscurity and published in the French in 'C' magazine from the original edition; 'it is here reproduced for the first time in booklet form together with the excellent translation into english [sic] and prefaced by Padgett's researches into the work.' Apollinaire's text is in parallel French and English, translated by Chris and George Tysh; the translation was made in response to a competition held in 'C', and first appeared in 'Adventures in Poetry'. Very Good with just mild signs of wear, the green of the wrappers a touch faded at the spine (not affecting legibility), a few minor marks outwardly, two facing pages with a small, unobtrusive patch of soiling towards the tail edge.
