Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. A vintage publication from 1954, this one being part of a Symposium held in 1954 on the oil and gas fields of Colorado. Illustrated with many b/ w charts and maps, including some that are folded and multi-paneled and attached and pasted as part of the book. There is also a pocket pasted onto the inside back cover that includes four large folded plates, that are in essence large folded maps. One of them is in color, the others are b/w. Book measures 9 x 11.25 with 302 pages. This volume is an ex-library book, that includes all the typical elements of ex-library book, which from Dartmouth University, part of the Sanborn Library Fund established by Edwin Webster Sanborn in 1878. The unprecedented urbanization of the nineteenth century prompted a wide range of theoretical and empirical writings on the city. Some of these writings addressed specific urban problems, especially relating to infrastructure, housing and poverty. Others were more generally concerned with the nature and texture of city life. This set collects together some of the most significant writings on the city from the period 1898 to 1938. Primarily dealing with North America and the UK, the volumes nonetheless reflect the experience of rapid urban growth, making them particularly relevant to many of the newly industrializing countries. He also listed flying a Wight Seaplane from CALSHOT. Between 1915 and 1919 it was used to train around 1,000 pilots before they were sent to Europe, shortly afterwards the aerodrome closed in 1919. This 'in-house' magazine named 'The Chingflier' had a short history and was published between October 1916 to February 1918. Contains 24 (including the covers) printed pages of text with monochrome illustrations and photographs throughout, including full-page cartoons specially drawn for 'The Chingflier' by A. M.
