Perhaps this accounts for the fact that he is an artist who is not concerned with myths, but has chosen instead to shape a world out of familiar objects charged with a myth of their own. Never have ordinary objects acquired such lyrical substance, such poetical evocativeness as in the hands of this architect of the imagination, this magician, arch-performer of endless transmutations. A nail or a piece of string, though fully recognizable, make a fresh emotional impact thanks to the new existence conferred upon them by the artist's revelatory eye. These objects transcend reality while remaining convincingly, tangibly real.
