ca. 9 x 15 cm. rare ! - Original cachet made for the famous woman pilot Evelyn "Bobbie" Trout (1906-2003) for the "first successful solo ocean flight made by a woman". This pice of art, showing the palms of Honolulu, a Skyscraper of Los Angeles, the Lockheed plane and a photo of Bobbie Trout was to be carried on board the flight to be signed later by her. This item is not signed however. The flight had been cancelled in the 1930s due to financial difficulties. - - Bobbie Trout was famous for her many aviation records which included the "First Woman To Fly All Night", many endurance records (both unrefueled and air-to-air refueled [more than 122 hrs]), air races and the first women's cross-country race named the "Powder Puff Derby" from Clover Field, Santa Monica, CA to Cleveland, OH (1929). In 1930 she became the fifth women in the USA to receive the "Transport Licence" pilot rating. - She is a member of the Women in Aviation's Hall of Fame and the first woman to receive the Howard Hughes Memorial Award for her lifetime contributions to aviation. 1 p. colored illustration good condition, some very small tears in the edges.
